Hey guys,
Since LT missed his week, should we just make him do it this week where I am, and I would be leader where GV was suppose to go second. Or should we just let him slide and stay on schedule? Please let me know by commenting on this post.

Bamboo Grove Final Post

1. It was nice that Hideyo found his sister and got back together with them. It was kind of happy that after all that time they found each other. The ending was a little satisfying since they got all together. It would've been nicer if their mother was still alive though. Some problems that were solved was that they all got back together again, and that they should have enough prize money from Yoko essay. Some problems that haven't been solved yet is they don't have a real house. They only have a small shelter that doesn't even have a stove. I think that Yoko decided to end it there, to keep people wondering what happened to them afterwards. Also the rest might have been personal to their family, and she didn't want to share it with the whole world.
2. I think that the Kawashimas preformed their customs to carry on their traditions and not forget them. If they forgot them and everyone else forgot them, the traditions would die. By keeping their ceremonies they are also happier and more optimistic about how fortunate they are. If I were with them, I probably would've preformed the rituals with them. I would do this so that it would be more natural as not as much happened or changed.
3. The character I admire the most would be Yoko. She was very brave and strong throughout the whole war. I don't think that I could have been as strong as she was if I went through everything she did. She was also mentally strong, because it hard to lose important members in your family like your mother, or the possibility of never seeing your brother or father again.
4. Some information I learned from reading this book was how poorly treated the refugees were treated, and how aggressive you would of had to be to survive. I also found it interesting that the Korean Communist army treated people that were from their own country. And also it was a type of thing that it was your with me, or your my enemy. I found that interesting because before I thought that they wouldn't hurt people from their own country.
What I still want to learn about world war two was what if your family wasn't so fortunate to go on a train to escape. What would those families have to do?
5. Some lessons in this book that I learned was that you have to stick up for your self or you wont get what you want. Some themes were be fortunate or what you have and be grateful, because not everybody in the world is that fortunate.

1. I think that those other "feelings" were things such as he had some hidden power with words. Since he is good at coming up with catchy phrases, maybe he has a way with words that other don't. It seems like he is a good author, and he is being held back from his dreams.
2. A If the book is suposed to be the future, I have somewhat seen something like it. The difference would be there would be more clones than artificail humans in test tubes.

B I don't think that it would be an improvement because I don't think that it would be an improvement because they're not really humans. Humans have more emotions and feelings, and these artificial people are going to be what's running the world. And the test tubers don't live as long.

Brave New World Response #1

1. I don't think producing humans artificaily is good because haveing parents changes your whole personality. The only possible good thing I think of that is good for beeing created in a test tube, is that you interact with others more, and your not always independant.
2. Splitting people into groups can be good, but not so much when you are being split into groups based on how smart you are or based on your qualities. I disagree with them saying some groups are better than others even if they are. I do think they should have different traits like us, becasue if you look at us, that's what makes us different.
3 I think the author wrote skipping from scene to scen to show that a lot of different things go on at the same time. It goat a little confusing as the cahpter went on since it was just one line before changing. I think it was a kind of cool affect if were in a movie, becasue then you can track it easier based on what you're seeing. In some of the lines, it could've been in a bunch of different wscenes going on at the time, and that is what was confusing to me.

Bamboo Grove OP #4

1. I think Yoko helps Mr. Naido, because she can, and he is kind of like her only freind. Also, her helping him might make it easier on his job, and Yoko wan't more people to like her. I think Mr. Naido helps Yoko out, because all the other girls used to make fun him, and now Yoko is his only freind. Also he wants to give something in return for what Yoko is doing for him. What they boith share in common is that they're are the outsiders, and people laugh and make fun at them.
2. I think that Yoko was shocked to see her sister working for them just to live. Now she knows why she wasn't there when her mother died, and Yoko might think that Ko would rather earn money than go to her mother when she is about to die. Also because that happened, I think Yoko is going to get a little scared every time her sister has her idea. I think that right then, Yoko realizes that her sister is working hard just so that they could live. I think she might be in awe that her sister is doing so much, and she might wan't to do more to help them out.
3. Why do you think Ko gets mad when Yoko spended money so that they can have a nice meal on New Years?
I think it's because Yoko could spend money better else where, but Ko seems happy in the end.

A. They feel sad about think that they might not ever see Hideyo again. Like when they carved his name on all the post telling him to go on past Seoul. Also they look on every train before getting on another one.
B. I think they should have left him behind, because sooner or later, either your going to die, or the ones you love are. I think it was good because they had to think about their own safety. They're caring for their family, but sometimes you have to think about yourself also. If I had to make the same decision they had to, I would've gone, because if I die waiting for someone I don't even know is alive, that's not good. Because if Hideyo has already died and I spend all this time waiting for nothing. And since it is getting colder, my life expectancy could go down a little.

1. I think that Hideyo's personality definitely revolves around his family, such as if someone hurts "Little One", he would be really mad. He shows a lot of courage from the factory, and that he could watch one of his friends die. His weakness is his family like when he returned home and it was destroyed. I think since it is a Japanese family, Hideyo would take over his father's belonging and chores to keep the inheritance running.

2. Like the Kawashimas, I would bring the necessary essentials for living. Since I am a Boy Scout, I might have a little more experience in packing camping equipment and the "10 Essentials." I would bring a mess kit to cook with, food/provisions for about a week. I would bring a sleeping bag and tent to stay warm at night and have a little bit of shelter. I would bring fire starter such as lint, char cloth, matches, and a flint block. I would bring a knife so if I run out of matches and I can use the block of flint to start a fire, or for protection. I would bring clothes for about a week so that I have clean clothes to change into. Money so that if I got to a town I could by stuff. I would bring a couple flashlights and extra batteries so that I could see in the dark. Some stuff I would bring just for memories would be some of my school projects or a scrap book. I would bring a book so that if I got bored I would have something to do possibly.

3. The event that I find the most shocking is when the Korrean Communist Army (KCA) burst into the ammo factory and killed everyone in their path. I also found it suprising that the soilder though Hideyo was dead, and the soilder didn't search the bathroom that well. I thought that was interesting because if I was in charge of KCA, and I found out about the soider who didn't look thougholy enough and a couple people escaped, I would either fire that soilder, or send him to his death.

1. Yoko's caracter is kind of like the baby of the family and that she relys on others for almost erverything. Such as she doesn't know what to do all the time, or when she does, she needs a lot of help. She also seems very generous, like on the train and she gave water and food to other passengers who neede it more than her. I think she still needs to gorw up a little more because even though she is generous, she still needs to work on her manners.

2.I think Yoko calls Ko "Honorable Sister" because that seems like a traditional Japanese respect. She also calls Hideyo "Honorable Brother" so that sounds like an act of respect also. She also calls Ko bossy because through her eyes she is. I don't really think she is bossy, she is just "the man in comand." I can relate to this because I sometimes do that also and I don't think I sound i bossy, but others might. I usually sound bossy when I get really frustrated with people and they act like they can't follow directions, and I become "the man in comand"

3.The family seems like they look after only themsevles except Yoko who is always helping people by giving them stuff she needs, but they need it more. But when she does this, Ko usually says not to and to save it for herself. I think I would save most for myself, but if somebody was about to die and I could help them, I would. Yoko also seems to be scared that she is surronded by all thes people that she doesn't know, and I think that's what makes her so generous. She wants people to like her so they don't try to hurt her.

PURPOSE
In this section, explain what you were supposed to learn and what you were supposed to do.

The purpose of this project was to learn about the cell system. Another reason to doing this project was learning how to decide if you want to work by yourself or with a partner. What we had to do was; if you are working alone, build/create a 3-D model, make metaphors for each of the organelles, and make a chart showing that you know each organelle and its function, and create a sketch of your cell model of a plant and animal. If you are working with a partner, you have to do the same thing except with a plant, animal, and bacteria cell.

WHAT I LEARNED
In this section, tell what information or skills you learned or improved.

What I learned from this project was; the differences between plant and animal cells, and their similarities. Differences:

Some skills I learned from doing this project was how to use Macromedia Flash. I did my model in Flash and it was a hard but fun process. I hadn't used flash before, so this was my first time using it. It came out good and everyone liked it, but I think if I had known a little more, it would've been better.

REFLECTION
In this section, reflect on your experience. Did you like the project? Why or why not? How did you do? What would you do differently next time?

I liked this project a lot because I did an animal cell in 5th grade but it wasn't as in-depth as this one. I liked this one more because it was a little more challenging and there was more to it to do. I also had a small head start because I was able to work on during the week of the Fires, and got my notes finished before a lot of people started.
If I could do this project again, I don't think I would change much because I liked the out come of my project. The only thing I would change would be having more experience in Flash, and possibly making a better movie.

I will link all my documents that I can to my DP including this one. I will try to put on the Flash movies but I don't know if those are going to work.

One of the things that is a little confusing is that there are two different stories that are going on at once. About every three chapters the author switches the story back and forth. On one scene, there is Roran in his hometown, Carvahall, in the middle of a small war. The other scene is with Eragon getting his training from the elves. If you don't notice the small stars the author put to say "setting change", you start thinking what just happened.

Some other characters that are really important besides the main character is Arya. Arya is an elve that was carrying Saphira when she was in an egg. She is one of the few elves that was outside of her homeland, Ellesmera, for more than 50 years. Since elves are immoratal, it doesn't show that she is 70 years old. Arya helps guard Eragon as he goes to Ellesmera to complete his training. She is the queens daughter but hides that from everyone outside of Du Weldenvarden, the forest the elves live in. She did not tell Eragon untill they got to Ellesmera, which got Eragon a little ticked off.

Some exciting events that just happened and still are is a war. In a small town in Carvahall, Eragon's home town, these creatures named the Ra'zac come for Eragon's cousin, Rorin. The Ra'zac are what killed Eragon and Roran's last relative, while Roran was away to raise money. Eragon's dragon protected him and flew him to a safe spot against his will. Then Eragon rode away with an old storyteller and tried to hunt down the Ra'zac. Now Roran is back and the Ra'zac are after him for information about his cousin. The town people of Carvahall won't give Roran up, but can't deal with the Ra'zac and their solders from the Empire no longer. So they decide to fight them, not to the deaths, but just to scare them away. In their plan, they realize that every time they scare the solders away, the Empire will just send more until they get what they want. Roran devises a plan to keep Carvahall protected, by building a wall. But against Roran's will, he accidental kills instead of just scaring away. The walls work against solders, but the Ra'zac can just destroy them with their magic. Now Roran has to create another plan to keep the town safe.

RESPONSE:

The main character in this book is boy named Eragon. He was just an ordinary boy, until he found a mysterious stone which turns out to be a dragon egg. Every body thought that all dragons were gone except for the evil king who took them all out. The people who had dragons were called "riders" and were able to do magic. The riders were like the guardians until the evil king, Galbatorix, turned them evil by using their magic names. All of the riders had died, so the rebels hope that they have another chance. Since Eragon is the first rider in a couple decades, the rebels, or the Varden, take him in, and send him off to learn magic with the Elves. The elves are the last magic users around, and have agreed to train Eragon is the magic ways.

I can relate Eragon to Harry Potter, because everyone has renewed hope that the evil bad guy will be destroyed. They both have magical training to help them defeat their enemies. They both get help from their friends, Eragon from his dragon, Saphira, who Eragon can talk through their minds which are connected. Harry Potter gets help from his friends, Hermione and Ron and a whole bunch of others.
